Kitesurfing Centers

Soul has been the anchor of kitesurfing in Ras Sudr since 2009, operating from the beachfront at La Hacienda Resort on the Gulf of Suez coast. The Gulf of Suez delivers consistent NNW winds across flat, shallow water in a protected bay, conditions that have made Ras Sudr Egypt's most accessible kite learning spot for Cairo weekenders and Egyptian kiters. Soul runs small-group courses (maximum two students per session) with IKO-certified instructors, and keeps a full range of kite sizes and boards for rental. Less polished than El Gouna, more community.

One of the original kite operations on the Red Sea, Harry Nass has been on the Dahab waterfront since 1999, long before kitesurfing became what it is today. The centre runs two launch areas separated by skill level: a protected lagoon (500 × 300 m, waist-deep, flat water) for beginners and intermediates, and a more exposed leeward area for advanced riders. Every kiter carries a walkie-talkie linked to the safety team, and rescue boats are on standby throughout the session. Around 300 kiteable days a year, with the strongest thermal winds running from March through November.

The newest addition to El Gouna's water sports scene, Riah opened in June 2024 and immediately achieved an IKO 5/5 rating. The academy runs in partnership with North Kiteboarding and sits on a beachfront with side-onshore wind, shallow water in the learning area and open water beyond for progression. El Gouna gets 300+ windy days a year and has hosted the GKA Kite World Cup: the conditions are competitive standard. Beyond kitesurfing, Riah also runs wingfoil, windsurf, and SUP instruction, with a beachside restaurant and co-working space on site.

The most remote kite center in Egypt, and one of the most singular in the world. Wadi Lahami sits 180 km south of Marsa Alam, accessible from Marsa Alam Airport in around two and a half hours, within the eco-lodge run by Red Sea Diving Safari, one of Egypt's oldest sustainable dive operators. The kite area is a private lagoon: wide, flat, sandy-bottomed, waist-deep across a huge arc of water, with mangroves framing the upwind shore. Cross-on wind, strongest January to June and October to December. Because Wadi Lahami Village is also a dive operation, guests can split a trip between kitesurfing and liveaboard diving from the same base, a combination that exists nowhere else on the coast.
