The Red Sea Atlas
Community Standards & Terms of Use
Last updated May 2026. By requesting access to The Red Sea Atlas you agree to these standards. They exist to keep this platform honest, safe and worth using.
What this platform is
The Red Sea Atlas is an independent community platform for people who care about the Red Sea: divers, anglers, sailors, kiteboarders, and anyone who spends time on or under these waters. It is not a booking site. It does not take commissions. It does not have paid listings. Its editorial positions are its own.
Membership is by invitation. Access is given to people who share a genuine interest in the Red Sea and who can contribute honestly to the community. This platform is built on the assumption that its members are adults who can behave accordingly.
Community standards
The Atlas is a place for people who know the Red Sea, want to learn about it, or want to protect it. The content here, posts, photos, comments, dive logs, should reflect that. We are not a social media platform optimising for engagement. We are a specialist community that values accuracy, honesty and care.
The following are expected of every member:
Prohibited content
The following will result in immediate content removal and may result in account suspension:
Photos
Photos uploaded to dive site pages are reviewed by the Atlas team before appearing publicly. Photos shared in the community feed are visible immediately to members and are subject to the same standards as all other content.
By uploading a photo you confirm that you have the right to share it, either because you took it or because you have permission from the person who did. You grant The Red Sea Atlas a non-exclusive licence to display it on the platform. You retain ownership.
Photos depicting illegal activity, explicit content, or that misrepresent dive site conditions or marine life behaviour will be removed without notice.
Photos submitted to the Fish Identifier are sent to our identification provider to read the image, and are stored by the Atlas so that good photographs can help us build and improve marine life pages. They are not published publicly without your involvement. By uploading a photo to the identifier you grant the same non-exclusive display licence described above. The identifier is a guide, not a guarantee, and its results should be confirmed before relying on them.
Reporting and enforcement
Every post in the community feed has a report option. Use it if you see content that violates these standards. Reports are reviewed by the Atlas team, usually within 24 hours. You will not be notified of the outcome, but every report is read.
If content is found to be in breach of these standards, we may remove it without notice. Repeated or serious violations will result in account suspension. There is no formal appeals process at this stage. This is a small community and decisions are made by a human being, not an algorithm.
If you believe your content was removed in error, contact us directly.
Platform use
The Red Sea Atlas is provided as-is. We make reasonable efforts to keep it available and accurate but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access or the accuracy of all community-contributed content. We are not responsible for the actions of individual members.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not run advertising. We collect the information you provide on signup and in your profile, along with usage data about how you interact with the platform, including the pages you view while you are signed in. We use this information only to operate and improve the Atlas and to communicate with you about your membership. Full detail on what we collect and why is set out in our Privacy Policy.
These terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the platform after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
